About the Event

GFWC International has announced that it will hold a National Day of Service on September 30. The theme for this year's event is food insecurity, a growing concern in many communities across the United States.

As a part of the event, GFWC International has requested that all clubs participate in activities addressing food insecurity. The Rochester Junior Women's Club has decided to participate by organizing a food drive during its first two meetings in September and October. Members are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to these meetings to donate to the Rochester Area Neighborhood House, which provides food assistance to low-income families in the Rochester/Rochester Hills area.

It is often assumed that affluent areas like Rochester/Rochester Hills do not have food insecurity issues. However, this is far from the truth. In fact, many families in these areas struggle with food insecurity and rely on food assistance programs to make ends meet. By participating in the National Day of Service, RJWC is taking an important step toward combating food insecurity in its community.
